With requests coming from local people of Cheskam village of Mahakulung Rural Municipality-3 of Solukhumbu, The Partners Nepal considered replicating the successful One Day One Tree project in Cheskam village.
Chheskam is a Rai village in Solukhumbu District in the northeastern region. It lies in Mahakulung Rural Municipality-3, Chheskam village, with a population of approximately 3000 people living in 700 individual households.
Cheskam village lies within the Makalu-Barun National Park and Buffer Zone that was established back in 1992 as eight national parks in Nepal that have designed to manage the core area by the Department of National Park and Buffer Zone managed by local people. The local people also had contributed cash for planting those seeds.
