BHALA KAJI RAI (Kulung) has been the treasurer of The Partners Nepal since the inception of the 2012 establishment. Mr. Rai worked in the Himalayan Natural Fibre Foundation (HNFF) from 2008 to 2017 as a program officer and was involved in The Mountain Institute’s Nepal programs from 1999-2008 in various positions, including the finance and program officer from 2004-2008. Mr. Rai comes from Chheskam 1 of the remote village of Solukhumbu, and he holds a Bachelor’s degree from Tribhuvan University, Shankar Dev Campus, Kathmandu, Nepal. Mr. Rai has over 20 years of experience in financial management, manual accounting, training, and establishment of financial management systems for NGOs and partners, environment conservation, poverty reduction, and livelihood improvement through participatory planning, implementation, and monitoring approaches. Mr. Rai has been active in establishing or replicating TPN’s One Day One Tree project from the Khumbu region of Sagrmatha National Park and Buffer Zone to Cheskam village of Mahakulung Rural Municipality-1 of Solukhumbu. Recently, he constructed a community pond in Cheskam with financial support from The Partners Nepal, which has become a very important aspect to help adapt to the climate change issues in the region.
