Mingma Yanji Sherpa (Member)
Ms. Mingma Yanji Sherpa, from Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality-4, Solukhumbu holds an M.S. in Research in Glaciology (2014-2016) and a B.Sc. in Environmental Science (2010-2014) from Kathmandu University, with a research focus on the energy and mass balance of Yala Glacier in Langtang and the surface area variation of Imja Glacial Lake using GIS and Remote Sensing. She has worked as an Environmental and Social Safeguard Monitor for the Disaster Resilience Schools Project (Asian Development Bank) since 2019, and previously served as an intern at WWF Nepal’s Monitoring & Evaluation Unit in 2017 and a consultant for the National Reconstruction Authority’s Geo-Hazard Survey (2016-2017).
Her fieldwork includes mass balance data collection at Yala Glacier and visits to Imja Glacial Lake. She has also completed key training in Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (2020), Remote Sensing & GIS for Glaciers (ICIMOD, 2016), and Data Analysis with R (ICIMOD, 2016). Mingma Yanji Sherpa has accepted to be a member of TPN as of July 2024.
