THE PARTNERS NEPAL HELPED CONSERVE AND RESTORE THE KHUNDE MANILHANG
The Partners Nepal had helped conserve and restore the Khunde Manilhang (Communal building) that was severely destroyed during the massive earthquake 7.8 magnitudes in April and May 2015. The whole Khumbu region suffered terrible damage to its monastery and cultural monuments including the Khunde Manilhang.
The impacts from the earthquake were immense especially where approximately 90% of the Chorten (monuments) and monasteries that is important cultural heritage for the Sherpas of this region has been destroyed or damaged as a result of the 2015 earthquake.
With financial support from Sir Edmund Hillary Stiftung Deutschland, NepalHilfe-Tirol (Austria) and The Partners Nepal along with many individual donors, the Khunde Community, and the Khunde Mother’s Group, the Khunde Manilhang project has been completed as of November 2019 (Photos and text by: Saurav Shrestha (BAHA SPACIAL AGENCY 2017)
