Community Pond Support in Chheskam as Climate Change Mitigation 2023-2024

Serve The Mountain Communities

To enhance climate resilience, The Partners Nepal built a community pond in Chheskam, Ward No. 1, Mahakulung Rural Municipality, Solukhumbu. Community ponds are vital for climate adaptation—they harvest rainwater, mitigate drought, support agriculture, and help restore fragile ecosystems.

Functioning as small wetlands, these ponds absorb carbon, protect biodiversity, improve water quality, and provide water during dry periods. Completed in just 1.5 months, the Chheskam pond now strengthens livelihoods, fosters environmental awareness, and encourages community cooperation. Conserving forests and maintaining public ponds helps communities reduce climate risks while creating healthier, balanced environments for people and nature.
